Mon Amie: Craig Moodie
/mon amie is a series of introductions to the most influential people in my life. The AMIE brand is rooted in the importance of connections, community, and friendship. As I work on my first book about my journey opening AMIE Bakery, the mon amie series is a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friends met along the way. With the revival of this blog, it felt fitting to publish the first mon amie to a more permanent place.
craig moodie
Author Craig Moodie turned his childhood memories of sailing the waters off Cape Cod and the Islands into a colorful saga of sea-themed short stories. For years, Moodie worked as a deck hand on local commercial fishing vessels, entranced by the mysteries of the sea. He draws on his adventures and experiences to craft compelling novels for adult readers, also writing under the pen name John Macfarlane.
memories
During my high-tech career in corporate marketing, I worked for Craig for over 20 years and I’m proud to consider him one of my most influential mentors and friends. My branding and marketing expertise can be attributed to having worked under Craig’s masterful direction and guidance. His wonderful sense of humor and leadership made the Creative Services group at EMC one of my most favorite and beloved work families.
Some fond memories with Craig include the debut of SpongeBob SquarePants when I surprised a Craig with a giant stuffed SpongeBob in his office chair. His son Matthew was a huge fan of SpongeBob and one day while Matthew was visiting us at work he gifted me a Spongebob Squarepants lanyard for my EMC badge, which I still have to this day. When the Sea Singer was published, I visited Craig during his book signings, one at the famous Strand bookstore in New York City, as well as locally in Westborough at Tatnuck Booksellers where he also did a reading for another mutual friend’s child and her group of friends.
It’s an honor and pleasure to offer a selection of signed copies of Craig’s books in support of my very talented author and friend.
With love,
Amie
