AMIE Academie: Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do after registering for class?
After purchasing your ticket(s), you will receive a confirmation email with your Order number within 24 hours of purchase. If you do not receive an email confirmation and see the purchase on your card, please email us. You do not need to bring a printed copy of your registration to class with you.
The morning of class, we will send you an email reminder. If you have previously unsubscribed from our email list, this email may not be delivered.
How do I find out about upcoming classes?
To receive our class schedule and other events, you can subscribe to our email list. We do not share your information with third parties. Classes are FINAL sale and non-refundable. All upcoming classes and special events can be viewed here.
Can classes accommodate allergies?
While we do our best to make classes suitable for all, we are unable to provide gluten free or dairy free recipe variations for participants with allergies. All participants prepare the same recipe(s) in a collaborative, hands-on environment. Our course content focuses on traditional recipes and techniques using high quality whole ingredients, prepared in batches to be shared amongst students in a group setting. We are a facility that uses common allergens. Participation in any class is at each students discretion.
For cupcake decorating classes and cake decorating classes, we are able to provide gluten free chocolate cake. Please register with at least 72 hours notice and list gluten as an allergy in your registration. We are a facility that uses nuts. For participants with allergies, please inquire before registering for class.
Do you offer private classes and demonstrations?
We offer private classes and special events by appointment only. Many of our regularly scheduled classes can be purchased for a private session.
Are classes demonstration style or a hands-on experience?
We seek to provide the greatest value possible for our students. Our classes are hands-on unless otherwise specified in the class description as a demonstration or other type of class. Any photography available can be found on each class page. Student testimonials can be found on our gallery page.
What is the average class size and length of time?
We keep class sizes small for an intimate experience. On average there are 8 to 12 students per class. A minimum of 4 to 6 students is required to run a class, depending on the type of class offered. If a class is cancelled due to lack of enrollment, you may request a refund or credit toward another class at a later date. Class times range from 1 1/2 to 4 hours; they may run a bit longer or shorter than scheduled time depending upon class experience levels.
Where are classes and events held and where do I enter the building?
Classes are held in the bakery classroom and kitchen. Students may proceed to the employee entrance located on the left-hand side of the building if you’re facing the building from the back parking lot. The employee entrance is past the handicap spaces. Once there, ring the doorbell to enter the classroom.
What should I wear?
Dress in layers; the kitchen may be chilly until we start baking! We also ask that you wear non-skid, closed toed shoes. We recommend comfortable footwear: while we do have barstools in the classroom, our workbenches are designed for standing work and students can expect to be on their feet in the kitchen. We will provide an apron for use during class. Written materials will be provided, please bring any necessary eyeglasses or hearing aids. Students will be in close quarters to one another during class, we ask that strong fragrances are not worn during the session.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before class begins.
Are photos and videos permissible during class?
Our team will take photos and videos during class, which may be used on our website, in emails, and on social media, etc. If you would like to opt out of being shown in our promotional materials, you can do so during registration. We encourage you to take and share your class photos on social media and tag us! You are welcome to video a procedure as well, but we ask that recordings are for your personal use only and will not be posted.
Can I get a refund if I purchased a class and cannot attend?
We understand things can happen that might interfere with your ability to attend a class for which you are registered. Classes are final sale and we are unable to issue a refund if you must cancel for any reason, including illness, or you do not show up. In the event that we are able to fill your seat, we will issue a refund minus a $10 processing fee. If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, we will issue a full refund or allow for a transfer to a future session.

How do you determine the types of classes you offer?
We offer a variety of classes in the sweet and savory category, both in cooking and baking. We create classes based on demand. If you’re interested in a class on a specific topic or area of interest, we’d love to hear your ideas. Please email us amie@amiebakery.com with your suggestions or inquiries.
If you’re interested in a class we currently have listed, we welcome you to join us. Classes that do not fill up are less likely to be offered in the future. Classes that routinely sell out will continue to be available on our calendar.
Is prior cooking or baking experience required?
All levels of experience are welcome. If we run an advanced class, any prerequisites will be noted in the class description.
Can I bring someone to class to observe? Can I bring my child?
Our space is limited and each ticket sold is designated for only one student; therefore, we cannot accommodate anyone who would like to observe. While we love kids, our classes are for adult attendees. To ensure proper kitchen safety, student conduct, and respect for other attending students, classes are 18+.
Are classes handicap accessible?
While our facility at 1254 Main Street in Osterville meets state guidelines for accessibility, comfort level in the classroom will vary for interested participants. Our classroom is a working space, our kitchen workbenches are designed for standing height. We do offer barstools Please inquire before registering for a session to see if the course is right for you.
