OUR MISSION STATEMENT

AMIE Bakery is a specialty bakery café; we like to think of ourselves as our neighborhood kitchen. We bake in small batches, from scratch using whole, high-quality ingredients. Our mission is to restore the reverence for and experience of yesteryear’s traditional neighborhood bakeries. We aim to serve, support, and enhance our community by a warm place to gather as well as build their knowledge and passion for baking and cooking through our AMIE Académie classes.

THE A-TEAM

Since opening in 2014, AMIE Bakery has remained open year-round to best support the Cape Cod community. Our services have grown to include breakfast and lunch sandwiches, AMIE at Home take-and-bake products, cakes, catering, specialty holiday menus, coffee and barista drinks, a full bar, special events, and baking and cooking classes. Each season brings a change of pace for our team.

An important Note for Home Bakers

We often receive applications from enthusiastic home bakers with no culinary education or prior experience, looking to try baking as a career. As bakers, we certainly appreciate the allure of a job in baking. Professional baking is not like baking at home. Production baking is high-volume, fast-paced, physically demanding, repetitive, and high-stakes. Production bakers work all day on their feet lifting heavy products and equipment. We are selling baked goods; they must be correct, consistent, and presentable for sale. Errors and waste are costly in ingredients and in time. Most people who try baking as a career quickly discover it is not what they imagined; this kind of labor is not suitable for everybody. Hiring and training new employees is an expensive investment for our team.

If you’re highly motivated and enjoy manual labor, we are happy to receive and consider your application. If we invite you for an interview, our managers will ask relevant baking questions to get a sense for your experience and your understanding of pastry fundamentals. Please bring pictures (or a portfolio) of your prior baking experience.

Home bakers are highly encouraged to apply for a barista or sandwich artist position: enjoy a fun bakery job, be a meaningful part of our team, no technical skills are required, and you’ll have opportunities to help in the kitchen and gain experience. Front of house staff are eligible to earn tips.
